Plague Soldier Beetle

Description:

This species is highly variable showing great range in size (beginning around 6mm up to 16mm), colour of elytra (though always entirely dark), and the markings on the pronotum. This one had black marking on orange the pronotum , long slender metallic type wings , black head , large ribbed yellow under carriage. Approx - 2cms in length

Habitat:

Open grassy woodlands.

Notes:

The occurance of variable dark markings on the pronotum is more commonly a Tasmanian trait.
