Texas Spiny Lizard

Sceloporus olivaceus

Description:

It was sitting about 3 ft. high on a sunflower leaf and some wildflowers, trying to ambush the butterflies and other insects coming to the flowers to feed.

Habitat:

Back yard where dried wildflowers had been chipped last year. Seedlings filled the yard this spring, and I let them grow. The flowers have brought in all manner if insect life, as well as this fellow to hunt them.
