Deer Mice

Peromyscus maniculatus

Habitat:

Drainage pipe under aqueduct of a Hennepin Canal.

Notes:

I found these two little deer mice all nested up in a drainage pipe under a canal aqueduct. I just had my point and shoot, so the pics aren't the best, but they sure were cute and very curious about my light. I missed a perfect shot of both of them with their head fully popped out of the nest:( I returned the next day with a better camera, but they had the pipe completely sealed up.

Thanks Ava and Marta for the kind words. Glad you like it. Marta, there are two in there, but the one on the left was much more shy than the one on the right:) They really do resemble hamsters.

Is so cute! Its face reminds me of a hamster. There are two in the first pic, right?

This is a lovely spotting. To make it complete, and useful to researchers using this site for data, please edit this and add a reference about this species in the reference field of your spotting. Please do this for each photo you post. Thanks for helping to make Project Noah a complete reference tool for scientists.
