A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Insects in this family (Micropezidae) are commonly called stilt-legged flies, after their characteristically long legs. The fore legs are markedly smaller than the other pairs.
Spotted on Bougainvillea sp. in large semi-urban yard & garden adjacent to a disturbed patch of remnant forest.
A very busy fly, the forelegs are in constant motion. Oftentimes the fly poses ever so briefly and makes as if pointing, as evidenced in this series.
