A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
small, white flower, epiphytic, no leaves (at the time)
cloudforest, about 1800m
This is one of 6 species of orchid I spotted in Doi Inthanon National Park. Some of them were abundant and easy to spot. Others, like this one, I only saw one. It was nearing the end of the day and the light was in the wrong position for a better shot. I've showed a few orchidophiles and they had no idea on this one.

Thanks again Mayra!
Beautiful!
Thanks Matti, this is a tough one. I'm familiar with Dendrobium and yes it's a large genus. Thanks for your input.
No wonder anyone would have trouble identifying this!
I'm pretty confident (though not 100%) that it's a Dendrobium. That doesn't help much, as Dendrobium is an enormous genus. It has some similarities to D. elliottianum (or D. microbulbon, D. garrettii) - it's deciduous, has long inflorescences with few flowers and the pseudobulbs are tiny. It's most probably not that species however due to differences in flower shape and colour, and inflorescences being straight, usually having only a single flower. The group seems to be poorly known, and it could well be a new species. Someone who knows Thai orchids might have a clue...
