Hi there. Since you know the identity of your organism, please go ahead and fill in the scientific name field. This allows the spotting to fully enter the database and become complete, letting groups and individuals use the data and find your spotting. It also takes the spotting off the "unidentified" list. ID of gender: Male - concaved plastron (bottom shell), red or brown eyes. In my experience, males have more colorful skin patterns. Female - brown eyed, flat plastron. Ideal environment will support up to ten per acre. These animals a e very long lived; for that reason, not good for pets - may out live pet owner. Many other reason they shouldn't be kept as pets.
