Trichomonas vaginalis
This is a trophozoite of Trichomonas vaginalis, seen under the light microscope at x100 magnification (stained with Giemsa stain). Trichomonas vaginalis is an anaerobic, and flagellated protozoa (pear-shaped parasitic microorganism). It is an agent of trichomoniasis (a sexually transmitted infection of the urogenital tract). The size of this parasite is about 7 to 23 μm long.
