Cirsium undulatum
Perennial, 1-3 ft. tall. The alternate leaves are cleft into narrow lobes that do not reach the midrib; the lobes are spine-tipped, lancolate, grey-green in color due to the whitish woolly covering on the surfaces. Because the leaves are not cleft deeply, they tend to twist and undulate, hence the name. Flowers range from creamy white to salmon to bright pink with a range of shades in between.
These were growing in section 39 of the LBJ Grasslands on dry prairie.
Much less common than Texas Thistle, found in scattered locations on dry soils.
