Nice spotting and welcome to Project Noah! The northern and southern black widows overlap in your state, so the way to tell them apart is to look at the red hourglass shape on the female's abdomen. The southern is complete, while the northern has a broken (or separated) hourglass shape. If you visit the link I provided in the ID suggestion, scroll down to the "Identification" section and you can see images of what I'm talking about. Keep up the great spotting!
