Description:

Also known as water-purslane, or water-primrose, is a genus of about 75 species of aquatic plants with a cosmopolitan but mainly tropical distribution.

Habitat:

They commonly grow in shallow marshy areas, borrow pits and ditches. They flower in all seasons except winter.

Notes:

@ Snake warrior's Island Natural area. Botanists from the US DA are currently doing genetic analyses on plants from the Western US and South America to better classify members of this genus.
