Asiatic Rhinoceros Beetle (♂)

Description:

This is a male of Asiatic Rhinoceros Beetle (also known as coconut rhinoceros beetle) that i found on the coconut tree in my backyard. This rhinoceros beetle is black in color, and it has long curved horn projecting from its head. The size of this beetle is about 40 mm in length.

Habitat:

- Spotted on the coconut tree in my backyard. Usually, it can be found around the house, and area with palm trees (especially in the morning).

Notes:

- This is a large flying beetle belonging to the family Scarabaeidae ( subfamily Dynastinae). This species is a pest because it attacks the developing fronds of coconut, oil, and other palms in tropical Asia and a number of Pacific islands.
