Description:

This is a small wildflower in the Montiaceae family (only about 6 inches tall). Five petals with pink veins. Leaves are lanceolate (pic2). Aka known as Western Spring Beauty.

Habitat:

Spotted in the foothills of the Cascade mountains at 2200 ft. elev. West of Ronald, Wa. Range is western North America from southern British Columbia to New Mexico where it grows in foothills up to alpine slopes. It thrives in the rocky soil of alpine climates where the snow never melts.
