Enicospilus Wasp

Enicospilus purgatus

Description:

Large, brownish-orange stingless wasp. "Horse head" shape pattern in upper wing veins confirms it is an Ichneumon wasp. I'm assuming this is Enicospilus purgatus, but I am aware that Ichneumon wasps are notorious for having look-alikes! Any ID corrections are welcome!

Habitat:

On my mothing sheet/porch lights near overgrown back yard and mixed hardwood forest.

Notes:

Ichneumon wasps are known parasitize other insects and their larvae.

Wing venation is a bit different, indicating the related genus Ophion. I'm not sure if a decent key to US species exists.
