Xenochrophis piscator
i think it's type of a keelback (Xenochrophis sp.) any ID suggestions would be appreciated!! length - 60cm approximately
found near the paddy fields.
thanks for confirming Chime !!!
then it must be piscator.... checked asperrimus pics in arkive. its very distinct and beautiful with nice markings over its dorsal body side. http://www.arkive.org/boulengers-keelbac...
thanks Scott & Chime there are two Xenochrophis species recorded in Sri Lanka X.asperrimus and X.piscator. should be one of them!!
i would have said piscator if it was in India. they're very common here. your spotting looks much like them. :)
Yes I'd venture Xenochrophis sp. too, but I don't know which of the (3?) species.
