Water Sprite

Ceratopteris thalictroides

Description:

Water fern that grows fractal leaves, grows floating and planted into the substrate. Also can grow above and under water in low and high light conditions. Leaf shape varies in different conditions.

Habitat:

Freshwater, tropical marshes and swamps.

Notes:

This plant can be cultivated by breaking off leaves which soon develop into a second plant. It is common in the aquarium trade.
