A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Brownea sp.
This flower was in bloom all over the Tiputini Biodiversity station in early March when we first arrived. By the time we left in mid-April, the flowers were mostly wilted. It grew out of the side of the tree, about a meter or 2 off the ground. According to our guides, the tree (Rosa de la Selva, or jungle rose) has medicinal properties. Identification help at the species level would be great!
