Stenocactus sp.
Cactus about 8 cm across, in a crack of the rock.
Semi desert rocky hills, very little soil.
Thank you Johan Heyns for the new ID. I live surrounded by all kind of cactus but I don't know any thing about IDs and looking at the guide they all look much alike with very subtle defferences. I need to study more of these beautiful desert plants.
Thank you Johan for the link, it is exactly what I needed , a good reference on cactus
Luis, sorry!, I made a mistake. It is in fact a Stenocactus sp. Added a link for you to browse through if you're interested.
The big flat thorns/spines on this cactus is an identifying characteristic.
