Welcome to ProjectNoah. Hope you enjoy the site. In order to identify caterpillars we really need to see all the parts... head, tail and particularly leg arrangement. The horn is probably normal. Some species have them. Fungi usually pop out of the weak points in a creature like joints and orifices. Was it still alive and moving? Parasitic fungi usually don't show themselves until the host is dead.
