Bald Eagle

Haliaeetus leucocephalus

Description:

Two Bald Eagles flew over the Watergate & Georgetown waterfront today! They were high above Georgetown before I could get my iPhone out, but the spectacular wingspan and white heads were unmistakable!! I've never seen a bald eagle in the wild ... Is it unusual to see two soar together???

Habitat:

Washington, D.C.

I have a picture of at least a couple hundred in one flock... That was a first!

Since you know the ID of the organisms, you can enter in the common and scientific names under "edit this spotting" on the side of the page. And seeing multiple bald eagles together is pretty common, sometimes the groups are as large as several hundred. Glad you were able to see some!
