A small crab (5 cm dia. carapace) that camouflages its carapace with algae, sponges, bryozoans, and hydroids to avoid predation.
Spotted in a tide pool at Tongue Point State Park.

Haha. Mark, it camouflaged so well I didn't notice it in my pics until recently when I was reviewing some pictures. That is one of the amazing things about these tide pools at Tongue Point -- there are so many organisms in a small area and they are all trying to camo themselves in some way.
Maybe it needs more stuff. Makes me wonder what kind of glue they use too.
