Lilium canadense
1 to several long-stalked, nodding flowers, ranging in color from yellow to orange-red with dark spots, atop a stem with whorled leaves. Leaves: To 6"(15 cm) long, lanceolate, in whorls of 4-10, with veins beneath bearing minute prickles. Height: 2-5'(60-150 cm).
Wet meadows and woodland borders. Range: Ontario east to Nova Scotia, south to Georgia, west to Alabama, and north to Indiana; also in Arkansas, Kansas, and Nebraska.
