Pistia stratiotes
A single species makes up the genus Pistia. It is found nearly around the world in tropical waters, either naturally or spread by human activity. It is used in the aquarium and water garden trade, as cover and food for other inhabitants and to limit light thus preventing algae overgrowth. n the wild it often forms dense mats at the edge of lagoons and slow moving river edges, creating habitat for Jacanas, frogs, glow worms and other animal life
