Serbian Spruce

Picea omorika

Description:

It is a medium-sized coniferous evergreen tree.

Habitat:

Picea omorika is endemic to the Drina River valley in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina near Višegrad and western Serbia.

Notes:

Spruce was photographed at the botanical garden in Belgrade. Besides the spruce was placed a bust of Joseph Pancic (Josif Pančić), scientist after whom the species was named in Serbian language (Pancic's Spruce, Serbian: Pančićeva omorika).
