An Eastern Amberwing dragonfly spotted in the central wetland area at Huntley Meadows Park. This individual is an adult female, shown in flight, laying eggs by the process of oviposition.

Thanks, Claudia! By the time I realized I was seeing a mating pair of Eastern Amberwing dragonflies, the show was over. (Eastern Amberwings take 20-30 seconds to mate, on average.) This was the first female I've spotted in the field.
