Eastern Racer(juvenile)

coluber constrictor

Description:

When my husband walked out the front door he found this young black snake on the front porch and it got excited because it did not know the way out. I would have preferred taking it's picture in a more natural place, but you have to take what you are given.

Habitat:

I have found young snakes under the roots of our large oak tree and likely that was where he was born in the front yard. Most of the time the big ones either blend with their surroundings or are too fast to get a picture.

Notes:

With a broom I gently helped him out the door behind him.

I'm just not convinced this is a juvenile Black Racer. Its those spots. A juvenile Racer has blotches. Look at this one. Send it to this guy for possible id. http://www.floridakeyslandscapeadvisor.c...
