Banksia serrata
Also known as Saw-tooth Banksia or Honeysuckle Banksia. Flower heads can be quite large, creamy pale green to silvery yellow blooms filled with nectar, sit amongst serrated dark green and light green glossy leaves up to 20cm long with obvious centre vein, some types of this banksia can reach heights of about 15 metres, these ones were in the range of 1 to 5 metres. The flower develops into a hard cone that houses seeds, and it is the dead cones and gnarled bark that give the tree its name and character.
Found along eastern regions of Australia in mostly sandy soil environments. This specimen found at a location on the mid central Queensland coast.
