Description:

About 2 inches across. Black & white. Didn't like to sit still.

Habitat:

Found while hiking Mt Equinox in Manchester, VT. Altitude about 3800ft

Notes:

There were hundreds about, starting at around 3000ft, all the way to the summit.

I believe this is a Geometrid Moth in the genus Rheumaptera.
