This neighbor was kind enough to let me look for squash bugs,which I did not see. I did see leaves with holes in them. Now there is this beautiful squash standing. Looks like growing vegetables in your front yard is a new trend!!

The calabash was one of the first cultivated plants in the world, grown not primarily for food, but for use as a water container. The bottle gourd may have been carried from Africa to Asia, Europe and the Americas in the course of human migration

Thanks Argy.Painting gourds is an ancient art. Infact i do have two painted gourds.

We call it bottle gourd/ calabash and they come in other shapes too :)

Yes, you can mix them with flowers, it is a nice new trend. My daughter used to grow these and make bird houses with them.
