Zingiber spectabilis

Description:

Spotted at 10:57 AM Color: Greenish Yellowish Texture: Hard Growing on the forest floor. Large leaves below it seem to grow around it.

Habitat:

Singapore American School Secondary Rainforest. Found on the forest floor; slightly above the leaf litter.

Notes:

Please help me figure out what this is. There are not many of them spotted in the rainforest. I would like to know if it is edible to animals.

Some kind of a Ginger, possibly Zingiber spectabile, Beehive or Shampoo Ginger.
