Florida Bark Mantis

Gonatista grisea

Description:

Not sure if it is brown/black and cover with some type of green mold; or if that is its protective camouflage. It is a fairly large little creature.

Habitat:

It was observed a a County nature Preserve clinging to the screening of the entrance to the Ed Center. It was not a rapid mover. It did not mind getting close to take photos.

Just looked at whatsthatbug.com. It had a couple of photos that seem to match your suggestion and my photos I took.

Thank you
