Spiny Softshell Turtle

Apalone spinifera

Notes:

I'm hoping I'm right with the identification...there are only 2 softshell turtles in MN and this was NOT a river, so I'm assuming it's a spiny...I know it's hard to tell! We were out on a pontoon, and I was told that there are usually softshells on this patch of marshland...but we never saw one. I was totally surprised to see this in one of my pictures!! If I'm wrong, please do let me know! ;-)
