Description:

Electric metallic blue, 3 cm (1 1/4 inch)

Habitat:

I came across this one near the top of a hill, crawling over lichens on the sandy heather heath of the tip of the Jutland Peninsula.

Dung beetles are sometimes metallic blue or even green.

Martinl, looks like you're right. Thanks! Will fill in info. I think it was the spectacular blue color that threw me off. My books didn't show that.

Well, it looks like a dung beetle, and it looks similar to this one,

I guess it is Anoplotrupes but i'm not the expert.
