Psammodromus algirus
Is a species of lizard in the Lacertidae family. Adults reach up to 7.5 cm in length (head-body). The tail is very long, as the name implies, the order of two or even three times the length of whole-body head. The scales of the back and flanks are large, flat, pointed, keeled evidently. The general coloration is brown featuring two very conspicuous white lines on both sides. The under parts are white or slightly tinged with green. Males usually have one or more blue spots on the shoulders, when they are in heat they also have the throat and sides of head orange.
It is found in Algeria, France, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, and Tunisia. Its natural habitats are temperate forests, Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, sandy shores, arable land, pastureland, plantations, and rural gardens. It is threatened by habitat loss.
