Cardinal

Description:

We were sad to see "our" cardinal show up to the feeder with most of his face and head feathers missing. The other side is worse. Not sure what could have happened to him

Thanks RyanWarner. I put fresh food in the feeder daily-sometimes twice a day if the chipmunks and squirrels get to it. We have a lot of birds that come to that feeder so hopefully if it is mites they don't spread.

That's a common sign of bird mites. If it was from molting there would be a lot less feather loss. Try to keep fresh food in the feeder, mites can quickly become a problem for the other birds that feed there.
