Cicada? Approx. 5cm
Montane evergreen forest. Khao Soi Dao Wildlife Sanctuary.
At first sight I thought of a butterfly cicada and Tosena sybylla. But if you look carefully at the position and size of the eyes and shape of the head, I have some little doubts if this is really a cicada. Might rather be some ind of a leafhopper. However the size of the whole insect (5 cm!) speaks more for a cicada, which usually have more glassy wings. The view from the side looks as well not specially like a cicada. Tricky one!!Just a few links for info...http://www.exoinsects.com/index_page/ind...http://www.insect-sale.com/kr/photo.asp?...Nice video: http://www.flickr.com/photos/45763236@N0...Smae one as photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/45763236@N0...
