Blue-fronted Dancer Damselfly (female)

Argia apicalis

Description:

The thorax is pale blue with little marking. The abdomen is mostly black with blue on segments 8 -10 in the male and females can be blue or brown, no blue on tail tip. This appears to be a blue female.

Habitat:

Look for it along the edges of lakes, ponds, and rivers where there are rocks or other flat surfaces where it can sit. This one was in a habitat garden at the edge of a lake.
