A fly of the Diptera family Sarcophagidae, commonly known as flesh flies. They deposit hatched maggots instead of eggs on carrion, dung, decaying material, or open wounds of mammals; hence their common name. Habitat:

Spotted on a leaf of a Hibiscus sp. in a large semi-urban yard & garden adjacent to a disturbed remnant patch of lowland forest.
