A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
A fly of the Diptera family Sarcophagidae, commonly known as flesh flies. They deposit hatched maggots instead of eggs on carrion, dung, decaying material, or open wounds of mammals; hence their common name. Some flesh fly larvae are internal parasites of other insects. < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flesh-fly >
Spotted on a leaf of a Hibiscus sp. in a large semi-urban yard & garden adjacent to a disturbed remnant patch of lowland forest.
