Viola hederacea

Description:

Small ground cover plant, small kidney-shaped dark green leaves, small purple and white flowers held about 4 inches (10cm approx.) above the main plant, flowers mostly in summer but does have spot flowering throughout the year, very slight perfume, trails along the ground and sets roots at each node.

Habitat:

Found in moist or shaded areas throughout eastern Australia. This one in garden setting near waterlogged area and is well shaded for majority of the day.
