Description:

The centipede was skittering around the hillside, poking around through the leaf litter and slipping in and out under rocks before finally vanishing into a crevice in a rocky outcropping.

Habitat yard on Belton Lake.

Scolopendra morsitans is an African centipede, but it does look similar. Scolopendra heros is found from Louisiana to Arizona, and is variable in color. This version is highly sought as a "pet"!
