Description:

Black squirrel, about eight inches long, with "dirty blonde" tail.

Habitat:

Pacific Northwest coastal park.

Notes:

Spotted in Peace Arch State Park in Blaine WA. It appeared to be somewhat habituated to humans.

I'm not completely sure, but I think this is a melanistic fox squirrel (Sciurus niger)

This is a melanistic squirrel. It's either a Western Gray Squirrel (Sciurus griseus) or a Fox Squirrel (Sciurus niger). I'm not sure from the images which species.
