Description:

This is a dirt pile left behind by a pocket gopher. They move through the soil, and in the winter they travel closer to the surface and spend time in the subnivean zone. They end up leaving piles of dirt in their wake as they "swim" through the soil.

Habitat:

Montane meadow.
