It is! It is so great how simplicity in nature can sometimes be the most amazing thing!

Its really cool seeing rare things and especially small flowers and plants like this. Many people don't even care to look at them. My fascination towards such small plants started [as I remember it] at the age of was seven when a found a small little mushroom. I had it with me for a long time.
Its really great, it gives us so much happiness. Its the beauty of small things. I guess.

Thanks! It is so cool seeing rare things, isn't it? I saw unifora the other day too!

It is rare I totally agree with that. Mainly because it is seen above the earth only during flowering season. Its always seen growing from beneath foliage covering on the forest floor. I have only seen the uniflora species two times, when i went to the Western Ghats and mainly during the rainy season.

Yeah I was also confused by the images in the internet. I could not find one like the one in this photograph. But I think since there are no other options, it is Monotropa hypopitys. I have seen Monotropa uniflora but never came across this one so my comment is solely upon the info that I got from the net.

Thanks again. I heard they are pretty rare. Do you agree with that?

Thanks namithahelen. I knew it could not be M. uniflora because that only has one flower per "stem." It did not look wilted to me, yet I was surprised it was black and white, because all other ones I saw on the internet of M. hypopitys was either yellowish, white or pink.

This is definitely not Monotropa uniflora so its probably Monotropa hypopitys. Is the photo given that of a fresh flower. What I meant is, whether it is a withered or not.
