Rosa rugosa
These are commonly found along seacoasts in Maine, and bear red berries. I am pretty sure they are native and aren't garden flowers.
Generally, wild rose species are used as rootstock for the roses we buy at garden centers because of hardiness.

Might be swamp rose or dog rose
