Giant water beetle (bug)

Lethocerus americanus

Description:

All black where I could see and dull in color. Could be because we found him in my shop. His head was moving a lot, like he was breathing? And I could only get these couple shots before it flew away.

Habitat:

My shop is located in a pretty swampy area. High humidity and high temps right now. Lots of open water around.

Notes:

This bug was strong. Before he flew off it was on my index finger, and I could actually feel its grip squeezing me. Then it flew into the photographer (my younger brother)s face.
