Interesting one. Definitely not an US species. It should be a Nymphalidae, Heliconiinae and Acraeini. Looks like being an Acraea sp. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acraea_(gen...) All of them are not native from US, so it is an escapee from a butterfly house or a specimen out of a collection. Please add some more information about this butterfly.
