Zone-tailed Hawk

Buteo albonotatus

Description:

This is a medium-sized hawk, which is often seen flying with the Turkey vultures, taking advantage of the similarity with them, and thus be able to launch on their possible prey. I saw this individual flying over areas of the plains of the pacific north of Costa Rica, where they are considered common.

Habitat:

Open areas of rainforest and Dry forest.
