Carpenter Ant

Camponotus

Description:

These two ants caught my eye when I was on the Dairy Farm trail with my class. They were dusty looking ants, that were huge! They were approximately 1.5 inches long each, and they were chocolate-brown in color. They seemed to be in a conflict, because they were 'fighting' and using their antennae as swords.

Habitat:

These ants were found in the Dairy Farm Nature Park in Singapore. It is a secondary tropical forest, which had rained the previous day. This leaf was shaded by a larger tree.
