Eastern Amberwing

Perithemis tenera

Description:

Tiny dragonfly (not a damselfly!). Male is overall amber color with small dots in the wings and a pale stripe on the side of the thorax. Female is browner with many dark markings in lighter wings. Both have rounded abdomens.

Habitat:

Widespread range of habitats. Marshes, ponds, lakes and along slow moving streams and rivers. Often seen coursing out over open water or perched on low sticks or vegetation
