Chelonia mydas
About 1m large, Is a large sea turtle of the family Cheloniidae. The neck cannot be pulled into the shell, dorsoventrally flattened body with teardrop-shaped carapace, olive coloured pattern, and large paddle-like flippers.
Spotted at Bunaken Marine Park, North Sulawesi. The range of the green sea turtle extends throughout tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide.
The common name comes from the usually green fat found beneath its carapace. C. mydas is listed as endangered by the IUCN and CITES and is protected from exploitation in most countries.
