White-tailed Deer

Odocoileus virginianus dacotensis

Description:

Deer and her fawn grassing close to the road. Brown coat. Tends to be reddish in spring and summer and greyish in fall and winter. The fawn holds the diagnostic white patches on the upper coat. The white tail deer is easily identified by the white underside of the tail.

Habitat:

Taiga.

Notes:

Also called Virginia deer.
